Wild Day at Disney's Animal Kingdom

My friend Melissa and I signed up for Disney's 5K race, "Expedition Everest" and included in the registration fee was admission to Animal Kingdom. The race was at 7:30 PM, so we decided to take Jacoby to the park during the day. He had a BLAST meeting the characters and strollering around the park. Robert met up with us at the hotel later in the day and took over "baby duty" so that we could get back to the park for the race. I am proud to say that, with no training or preparation of any kind, we both were able to successfully finish the race :-) 5K is a lot longer than I thought it would be... Back at the hotel the next morning, Jacoby uttered his first word at breakfast, maybe. He definitely made a sound like "Mama" but whether he was referring to his mama is still hard to tell. At least he's got the phonics for it down! Check out more photos from our WILD trip to Animal Kingdom at the website below.

Check out these photos of Jacoby crawling...

Teething

Jacoby had his six month check-up this past week. He now weighs 17 pounds and is a little over 27 inches long. Doctor asked if he was sleeping through the night (no) and assured us that Jacoby does not need to eat in the middle of the night. Try telling him that at 4 o'clock in the morning when he's ready for his mid-night snack! Still working on it... Also still working on pushing that first tooth through! Every morning we check his gums, certain that today will be the day that a little bit of white is poking up, but so far nothing...they've got to be coming though. The little guy goes CRAZY for a wet wash cloth or frozen teether.

Learning to stand!

Jacoby continues to work on learning to stand. He pulls himself up on his (dusty and unused!) jumperoo, play table, daddy's legs, crib...anything he can get a strong grasp of! Crawls all over the house now and it's impossible to leave him alone for even a second before he's racing off to grab something he isn't supposed to. His biggest accomplishment this week was finally getting his hands on one of the cats - and Caesar didn't even seem to mind it (well, not too much anyway!)

Went to the beach for Memorial Day. The water was nice and warm and the three of us had a wonderful afternoon. Robert helped Jacoby float on his back and bob in the waves...the two of them laughed and giggled out in the ocean for almost an hour!

So last week Jacoby checked learning to sit off his "to-do" list and has now moved on to learning to stand! On Friday, Robert went in to get him up from his nap, and to his surprise, Jacoby was standing up in his crib, waiting to be picked up!

He's put the sitting and the crawling together to get himself over to the edge of the crib and then pulls himself up.

Using tooth, claw, and nail to get himself upright...

...and success!

Still pretty wobbly...

...but loving every minute of it!
