Painting Pumpkins Pink

I ordered Coby's Halloween costume last week, thinking it might take a couple weeks to arrive. Well, "Suprise!", it showed up three days later. He has been asking for a football helmet since Cory's birthday when he got one and we have been putting it off, promising he could have it as a Halloween costume. The package arrived Thursday and it wasn't until this morning that I finally got it off of him. I think we have ourselves a Gator.

The UF Cancer Research Center (where Ada works) hosted a "Paint A Pumpkin Pink" event this weekend to raise awareness for Breast Cancer. We had a great time pinking out our HOT pink pumpkin and then painting it green, Coby's favorite color.
Coby, Cory, and Ada's niece and nephews...
Leaning in to get just one more pumpkin...
Afterwards we took a walk around Lake Alice with the boys. Here they are leaning over to get a better look at a gator gobbling up a fish for lunch!

The finished pumpkin.

That evening Robert and I went out to dinner to celebrate our 4th anniversary. Horray for date night!

Today was spent running to Home Depot and working on the play structure. Coby wants to be in on all the action of course.
We also managed to take a little time out to walk the San Felasco trail with Nicole, Griffen, and Lincoln. The boys had a great time stomping in the creek and throwing sticks off of the bridge.
Here's Coby showing off his pumpkins.

Happy Birthday!

Robert and Coby had a wonderful birthday planned for me. First, Robert surprised me by sending a beautiful bouquet of flowers to work. Then, when I got home, he arranged to pick up take out and a delicious chocolate cake. Yummy!
And my birthday wish? That the Beavers would win a football game!!! Thank goodness it worked, I don't know how much more losing I could take...

The weather has been much more Oregon-like than Sunshine State, so we haven't made a whole lot more progress on our playset. In between rain showers we managed to take some measurements and run to Home Depot though. Hopefully next weekend will bring nicer weather and we can replace the rotten beam and build the ladder!

It's Finally Fall!!!

Between the exhaustion of going back to work and the terrible heat we haven't been doing a whole lot the past few weeks. Then, this week, the fall weather finally came. It was 41 degrees last night and barely got up to 80 today. Heaven.

Friday night Coby and I headed down to Micanopy to meet up with our friends Jennie and Evan at Coon Hollow. We go several times every year. This was "opening night" and we wanted to be there!

Our favorite part was the hay ride out to feed the cows. Coby kept looking for Twister :o)
I think he was looking for Twister in the above photo.

Here are the boys sitting on the wagon.
Cheesing...

...and amazed surprise at the flashlights Steve (Jennie's husband) had brought for them to use in the corn maze. Yes, we took three 2-year-olds into a corn maze at night. I was so scared the entire time that Coby would run ahead and get lost. Luckily the flashlights made it easy to spot them in the dark, not to mention keep us from tripping over our feet!
And today we had a little more excitement! A friend of work offered to give us his kids old playset a few months ago. It is a NICE playset and I immediately jumped on the offer. Robert was lukewarm about it, probably because he knew that it would be his job to take it apart, move and reassemble it. Well, I am happy to say that five months after the initial offer, that playset is in my backyard!

Robert rounded up a couple friends and we rented a U-Haul to move it.
It'll take a few weekends and some elbow-grease, but it has good bones. And most importantly, Coby LOVES it!
It's been in my friend's backyard for 13+ years, so a little TLC wouldn't hurt either.
