March of Dimes Weekend

Jacoby, Robert and I participated in the March of Dimes walk yesterday - the walk is 8.6 miles and I have to admit we didn't make the whole thing. We got about 3 miles in and had to decide whether to turn back to Westside or keep marching. At that point Coby was done sitting in the stroller and was getting a sleepy kind of heaviness so we decided to turn back. Maybe next year... Afterwards we invited everyone from the playgroup over for lunch. As always, both the mommies and the babies had fun enjoying each others company.

Coby just got this super cool tube for his birthday. The babies loved playing peek-a-boo and chasing each other through it!

The group's all-time favorite snack is Cheerios. Here's Jacoby sharing with Sonja...
...and then feeding them to her.

That's my sweet boy :o)
Without his buddies around today to play with, Jacoby made do by chasing the cat through the tube. The cat wasn't too into this (as I'm sure you can imagine...) and was long gone by the time I got the camera, but I'm telling you, it was the stuff "America's Funniest Videos" is made of!

Jacoby has finally recovered from his stomach bug and his appetite has returned with a vengence! I am telling you, this kid can EAT. Today for lunch he had a chicken salad sandwich, potato salad, milk, and a hearty helping of Cheerios to top it off. As you can see, he kinda ate all of it at once...
When he's not eating, Coby is running all that energy off! After lunch we walked over to the park and Jacoby picked up every single stick in the place AND went down the slide by himself for the first time.
Only one more week until Spring Break for us here in Alachua County. Can. Not. Wait.

Springtime in Gainesville

Jacoby and I have fully recovered from the stomach virus we had last week - phew! That was some nasty stuff! Thank goodness too, because it has been gorgeous here in Gainesville this past week! On Saturday we went with some friends from our playgroup to the Kanapaha Garden Festival. It was a beautiful sunny day with tons of activities for kids and best of all, ice cream!

There was one rainy day last week, which gave us a chance to play indoors with all of the wonderful new toys Coby got for his birthday. One of his absolute favorites is this ball popping machine that he got from our friend Andre. This thing only has one volume - incredibly LOUD! And Coby just loves it! Robert and I agree that it would be the perfect gift to give to Andre's first born :o)
He's also crazy about the bath toys he got from the Hanson family! The cups are so much fun to play with and he loves dumping the water out onto his head. It sure makes hair washing a lot easier!

We also got out to the Butterfly Rainforest this weekend. Jacoby's really starting to get into tracking down the butterflies and watching them land. They were out full force today because of the warm weather.

Mommy's little helper

Sorry we're a day late, but Jacoby and I had a stomach bug from I don't know where that knocked us out! Fortunately we're both on the mend and almost back to our usual selves... Grandma and Grandpa spent the last 2 weeks here with us, keeping everyone busy fixing up the fence and making repairs to our porch. Jacoby just LOVED helping Grandpa take measurements!
Come to think of it, he does a lot of helping out in the yard too...

But the real excitement was that our fence is now sturdy and safe enough for Jacoby to be let loose in the backyard! The middle section still needs some repairs, but the neighbors have agreed to fix it up this summer, and for now, it's doable. We here in the "Sunshine State" have had an extremely soggy spring so far, which meant that Robert and Grandpa had to work all day Thursday in the rain in order to get it done before they left.

Happy 1st Birthday - We Made It!!!

Coby officially turns one tomorrow, but we had a party with our Florida family and friends this past Saturday.

My official best buy of the year was a "bag o' balls" that we filled a kiddie pool with. The babies loved getting in and out of the tub. :o) Grandma and Grandpa and Robert (who woulda thought that he'd turn into quite the handyman?!) worked all last week getting the back patio prepared for the party. They tore out the linoleum and replaced it with a beautiful indoor/outdoor carpet. Now it's a wonderful outdoor playroom for Coby and the rest of the kids.

The babies also had fun playing with Coby's Radio Flyer red wagon. They took turns pushing each other around the back yard.
The dads enjoyed bonding over burgers, beers, and blowing bubbles...

Coby took a little nap in the middle of his party :oP but returned in time to blow out his candle and enjoy some cake.
