Tie-dye and cupcakes

Friday night we had a Mom's Night In over here with a tie-dye theme. We enjoyed good food and root beer floats while we twisted and rubber-banded our t-shirts. Heather is moving to Kentucky soon and our little mom's club will be split up :( We've been trying to get together as often as possible before she leaves in August.
The next day we all got together again, this time with the kids, so we could model our creations. Dads came along too to help with photography.
Heather and Nicole's birthdays were both last week so we celebrated with cupcakes!
July is "Florida State Parks" month and today you could get in to any park for free! We decided to go down to road to the Devil's Millhopper State Geological Site for a hike and picnic.
Coby wanted Robert to carry him the whole way down, but ended up walking the entire way back up!

Robert's bday

Coby and I have settled into a routine of watching cartoons when he first wakes up, eating breakfast, and then heading out for a little adventure before naptime. This week we met up with Coby's best-bud Linc at the Florida Museum of Natural History.
It's a good thing it's a kid-friendly museum, because these boys were so excited to be there they just couldn't contain themselves! We took them to the traveling exhibit "Wild Music" is explore how music occurs in nature and then to create some of their own.
For Robert's birthday he wanted to go camping, so off we went to our favorite state park, Anastasia Island in St. Augustine. It was less than perfect weather, but that didn't stop us from having a wonderful time!

Bunk Beds

Wednesday and Thursday night Coby walked himself into the guest bedroom for stories and sleep. So when Robert's lessons were canceled because of rain on Friday, we decided to assemble his bunk beds.
Coby was soooooooo excited to go to bed in his new "big boy" room.
He fell out twice, and Robert ended up falling asleep in bed with him the after the second time, but he slept in his bunk bed all night long! How do kids learn how to sleep without falling out of bed anyway? Since then we've attached a railing, but because we camped Saturday night, have yet to see if it curbs the falling out. It only covers the top half of the bed (closest to the pillow) and this kid is a THRASHER! We'll keep you updated...

4th of July

For the 4th of July we planned on heading out to my friends Caryn and Glen's house. We all donned our best red, white and blue before heading over there.
Glen is a BIG time Sam Adams beer connoisseur and organized a taste testing of every single one of the beers they make - over 30 different varieties. Now I like beer, but even I had to bow out after the second round. It was just too much!

The other amazing splash toy Caryn had was a punching bag with a sprinkler attached, complete with blow-up boxing gloves. So much fun!
We didn't make it to fireworks this year - Coby jumped in our arms every time he heard the "popping" noise while we were at Caryn's, so we didn't bother lighting any of our own off. Maybe next year...
