March of Dimes Weekend

My first day of spring break and I still set the alarm to wake up early to walk with Ada and the rest of her team, "For Charlie", in the March of Dimes Walk for Babies. We had a great time - finishing the 8.6 mile walk in 3 hours. Impressive! All along the route there were supporters passing out water and other treats, which made the time pass quickly. This year Cory was an official ambassador for the March of Dimes and received the VIP treatment. Uncle Paul stayed with him to cheer on the walkers.
That evening we headed to the Florida baseball games to watch the Gators take on the USC Gamecocks. Coby's obsession with baseball has not lessened one bit! He made it through 8 innings last night before we decided it was time to get home to bed. He loves watching them hit and run the bases. Will have to post a video of him hitting the baseball in our yard soon!

Go Gators!!!

For his birthday, Coby received a baseball tee, bat, and ball. Every afternoon this past week I have come home to him waiting by the door, ready to head out to the back yard and play ball! We got tickets to the Florida/Florida State baseball game and he sat through 7 whole innings!
Then Saturday we watched the Gator Basketball team beat UCLA and advance to the Sweet 16.

We'll be watching them on Thursday night! Go Gators!

Happy 2nd Birthday Coby!!!

Jacoby had a wonderful 2nd birthday. On March 8th we had his 2 year doctor appointment - 36 1/4 inches tall and not quite thirty pounds! Then we headed to a salon for his very first haircut. I had stopped in a few weeks ago, but just wasn't ready to cut the curls. Since then his hair had only gotten wilder. The girl did a "mini-fade" so he would keep some of his baby curls.

We came home and had a delicious steak dinner and then celebrated with a chocolate cake (Coby's request).
"I did it!!!"
The following Saturday we had a birthday party with the playgroup. We blew up the bounce house once again and had a great time. All that was missing was one of Grandpa's birthday cakes and Grandma's pasta salad!

Camping

This weekend we packed up our bags and headed down the road to O'Leno state park to camp out for the night. The paper called for 70% chance of rain, but we were not deterred. Also along on the adventure were our good friends Lincoln, Sofia, and their families.

From past experience we know that the first order of business is not to put up the tent, but to wear our little boy out. So off we went rambling down the trail to play pooh-sticks over the suspension bridge that crosses the Sante Fe river.

Once back at the camp site we hurried to set up our tent and then cooked up some supper. Hot dogs, potato salad, and s'mores - yum, yum!
After dinner the kids were WOUND up! Running from tent to tent - with the occasional detour out into the woods - kept us busy.
Before bed Robert, in a very no-nonsense tone of voice, informed me that should the weather take a turn for the worst, he would be getting in the car, driving home and coming back for the tent the next day. Fortunately, we made it through the night without incident. Some rain and lightning around 2 AM, but thankfully no tornadoes. In fact, the next morning it was bright and sunny again. We woke up to Lincoln walking through the camp-site yelling, "Coby, where are you?" Coby yelled right back, "I'm here Lincoln!" from inside the tent. While everyone else packed up their tents I watch the kids fill their buckets with water and dump it on their shoes.

Here we all are the morning after...
Then off for a quick walk after breakfast to see the Sante Fe river and to toss a few more sweet gum seed pods off the bridge.
