Happy 3rd Birthday!

It's hard to believe that Coby turned 3 this week!

To celebrate, we took a well-deserved mid-week day off to drive down to Disney World.
Hands down, Coby's favorite ride was the Magic Kingdom Speedway. He and Robert races around the track together over and over - they don't let pregnant women ride :(

We also got some great shots with the characters. Coby was especially happy to see Buzz Lightyear.
Coby made it through the train ride around Magic Kingdom before passing out in his stroller, right before we entered the gift shop. Talk about perfect timing! He's OBSESSED with the Disney "Cars" characters, so we picked him out a character he didn't have and then headed over to the ferry to get back to the parking lot.
Coincidentally, my good friend Celeste was in Florida this week for a work conference. We were able to rendezvous with here in Orlando and she came back to Gainesville to stay with us for the rest of the week. We took her out to the "old ball game" on Friday night to see the Gators take on Florida Gulf Coast.

We were also lucky enough to have her here for Coby's birthday party on Saturday. After going all-out at Disney, we were low key at the party: cupcakes, pizza, and playing in the park with his buddies.

New Bike

Since the holidays Robert has been dropping Coby off at O2B Kids preschool every day. Since we've only got the one car, Robert is using the bicycle and rick-shaw to haul him there. While it isn't always his favorite part of the day, it has sparked Coby's interest in learning to ride a bike. Specifically the bike Grandpa and Moses got him for Christmas.

My nesting instinct is in high gear these days and I've involved the rest of the family whenever possible. Since about Halloween Coby had taken over both of the other bedrooms. One has the bunkbeds and all of his stuff, the other had our "spare" bed, the crib, changing table and a bunch of other baby/maternity junk. Finally got the time and the inclination to sort it all out last weekend and then we had Coby choose ONE room to be his. The other will be Baby Jillian's. Our neighbors were in a similar situation a few months ago and allowed their older child to choose a paint color for her room and then let her help paint it. We followed their advice and it worked like a dream.

So we started with a trip to Home Depot (where else???) where Coby chose "Guacamole" green for his room. No surprise there. Green definitely his favorite. Then we came home and got to work.
I'm not gonna lie, there were some tense moments around the paint can, but overall, it went very well.
And the best part is that he no longer considers the other bedroom to be his!
